
The Concurrent World History students attended a workshop at Arkansas Tech University. Dr. Hashimoto Reed presented information on Japanese history and culture and gave students the opportunity to try traditional tea, taiyaki, and use a taiko drum.
Thank you to Dr. Zach Smith and ARNCTA for providing the grant to give our DHS students this experience.


It was a clean sweep for #LizardNation in the Yell County Tournament last weekend. Congratulations to our DHS students who played and our future DHS students for all bringing home the gold! Great job Sand Lizards!


University of Arkansas at Little Rock representative Michael Romack, visited with Mrs. C. Taylor's Senior Advisory students along with other interested Seniors. Mr. Romack started by providing a code allowing students to apply for Admission at UALR FREE and offered a FREE UALR shirt for the first three students to submit an application. Following this, Mr. Romack discussed programs offered at UALR, scholarships and financial aid opportunities, along with UALR's commitment to help student graduate debt free.


AAA Football Playoff Information


Morgan Douglas, Representative of University of the Ozarks (Clarksville) came to speak to Mrs. Scruggs Advisory and other interested Seniors. 25 students attended this meeting to learn more about U of O, programs offered, incentives, and scholarship opportunities. Several students from Dardanelle have attended this college to play soccer, softball, and basketball while earning a degree.
Ms Douglas gave each student attending information about U of O. Additionally, all Senior Advisors were provided information and contact information in the event a student or parent is interested.


The Scarlet Regiment performed at the Region IX Marching Assessment hosted by Russellville High School. This was our qualifying event for the state marching contest. The students earned straight superior (first division) rating from three adjudicators. We will be performing at the State Marching Contest at War Memorial (in Little Rock) on November 4th.

We know we have the best teachers, but it's also nice when the statistics show it as well. Not only are they teaching curriculum each and every day, they are also making connections with our students and building social, emotional, and soft skills throughout the year. Congratulations to our Algebra teachers and students in both Middle and High School on your state testing scores and thank you to all of the faculty and staff who support and encourage them along the way.


Mrs. Hickman's marketing classes recently completed a unit on data collection and analysis. Students used data collected to create a kid's meal box for a local fast food chain of their choice. They were required to match their target market and explain the decisions they made about the design of their box.


On October 22nd, Arkansas Tech University Representative Presley Thompson came to Mr. Harvell's Advisory to speak to his group as well as any Senior interested in learning more about ATU. 42 students came to listen to information about how to apply for admission, campus life, programs of study, and opportunities for financial aid. Ms. Thompson will be back at Dardanelle High School this evening for Parent Teacher Conference from 3:30-6pm to speak with interested students and parents about ATU. Additionally, representatives from ATU Financial Aid Office will be here to follow up with students on SAMS, FSA ID, and help answer questions about Financial Aid opportunities for ATU.


Mrs. McCampbell took a group of students to the Clinton Library ON October 21st, for participating in the after school program! Students enjoyed a tour of the library and lunch outside on the Arkansas River.


Tuesday, October 15, Jeremiah Humphrey, a representative of United Welding Institute (Pottsville, AR), came to Miss Balloun's Advisory to speak to her students and other interested Seniors about United Welding Institute. Mr. Humphrey told students about the skill students will learn, the work opportunities they will be given upon completion, and more information about what a career in welding offers. In addition to discussing the cost of the program, how to enroll in the program, and how to contact him if they have additional questions; Mr. Humphrey told them about an opportunity to come to an event in March and earn a $1,000 scholarship.
Students in our Alternative Learning Program were also given an opportunity to learn more about UWI. Mr. Humphrey reminded students that a good attitude, good work ethic, and determination will go a long way in helping them accomplish any goal they have in life. While in the ALE building, Mr. Humphrey was excited to see the wife of his former high school football coach, Mrs. Haralson.


The Dardanelle Theater Department sent a group of kids to Conway High School last weekend to compete in Words and Music. A 10 minute version of a musical. They did quite well and brought home first place! Well done DHS Theatre!


The Dardanelle Speech and Debate team competed at Conway High School last weekend, delivering an impressive performance. The team took home 1st place overall sweepstakes in the Small School Division. Brendan Miller secured 1st place in Novice IPDA debate, while Lex Gamble earned 2nd place in Varsity after a close 2-1 decision in the finals. The rest of the team also performed exceptionally well, contributing to the team's overall success.



A representative from ATU Ozark spoke with ELL students grades 9-12 about college possibilities yesterday and met with our Seniors about degree programs and scholarships available at ATU Ozark.


32 seniors attended Miss Freeman's Advisory to hear from UCA representative Sydney Welch on Friday, October 11. In addition to admission procedures, programs offered, and campus life; Ms. Welch told students about scholarship opportunities as well as the UCA Commitment which creates a pathway to a debt free college degree. Each student received information about UCA, was given an opportunity to sign up to receive more information about UCA, and were given contact information for Ms. Welch in the event they had additional questions. Students were encouraged to schedule a campus tour and were told about the upcoming Bear Facts Day on Saturday, December 7, 2024.


Creed Vega was surprised in his EAST class by Hootens with the First Community Bank, Scholar Athlete of the Week award. This award is only given to 13 student athletes a year in Arkansas and is based on athletic as well as academic performance in school. Congratulations Creed on another great accomplishment!




Dardanelle High School ESPORTS team is currently ranked #5 in the state out of 85 teams in the fall league. There are 2 teams this year both playing Rocket League. The Red Team (Ranked #5) consists of JT Taylor, Thomas Ivey, Coltin Treadwell, Dylan Burris, Callan Reid, and Cash Rector. The White Team consists of Ben Baker, Skyler Nguyen, Parker Sheets, Alex Byrd, Felix Carranza, and Kevin Abarca. The Red Team will take on South Pike County School District this Thursday while the White Team will compete against Walnut Ridge High School.

Mrs. Alejandra Reyes spoke with the Art II and Art III students today about the "Day of the Dead" community art competition that will be held on Nov. 2 at the Yell County Regional Library in Dardanelle. She brought a book to show the students about how Hispanic culture and traditions vary from one place to the next. She talked about the comparison of the "Day of the Dead" and the American tradition called "Decoration" and how both of these traditions are becoming lost. Once students finish their works of art they will be on public display at the Library from Nov. 2 through the remainder of that week.
