Our 6th-grade PLTW students have dived into their Computer Science unit with an exciting and interactive game called The Digital Dive! Through this activity, students discover how computers receive, process, and transmit information. Taking on roles like the User, Keyboard, Mouse, Processor, Speakers, and Monitor, they work together as the components of a computer system. This engaging game teaches them about the inner workings of computers and gets them moving and collaborating in a fun, hands-on way!

Last week, our 7th and 8th-grade PLTW students embarked on an exciting journey into their Automation and Robotics unit! In their first lesson, they successfully built a simple gear train. This week, they’ll take it a step further by adding motors and programming VEX brains to power and control their creations. Their ultimate goal? Designing and building an autonomous vehicle capable of reaching people in disaster scenarios.

The Dardanelle School District will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Exciting things are happening in our DMS Science of Technology classes!
Our 7th and 8th graders have been diving into PLTW Computer Science, exploring programming and working with microcontrollers. This week, they took their creativity to the next level by designing their own input devices using copper tape and aluminum! 🖥️⚙️ They're learning how different inputs work and discovering how technology responds to each one.
Meanwhile, our 6th graders have been working through the PLTW Design and Modeling design process with their teams to create their own puzzle cubes. Last week, Mr. Keeling, Mr. Rehm, and Ms. Walter took on the students' challenge, working through as many puzzle cubes as they could—and we all had a blast!
Way to go, DMS innovators and problem-solvers!

Addyson Crail proudly represented the middle school as she led the Pledge of Allegiance during Tuesday night's school board meeting!

Thanks to the Dardanelle Primary school for allowing the Dardanelle Middle School Student Council to help with the Primary Thanksgiving Feast!

Over the past two weeks, students and faculty at Dardanelle Middle School have brought in food items for our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Together, we collected just shy of 2,000 items. We were able to complete 22 food boxes, each one to be sent to families in our Dardanelle community. Additional items will be donated to the Sharing and Caring food pantry.
We would like to give a big shoutout to all of our FBLA and Jr. Beta members for their assistance in collecting, organizing, and building boxes! We would also like to thank all those in our community who donated.

Wishing everyone a Happy World Kindness Day from DMS!

Happy National School Psychology Week! This week is an annual opportunity to celebrate the important role of school psychologists in helping children succeed in school, at home, and in life.

Reminder: Next Friday is the last day to donate to the Thanksgiving food drive!

FBLA and BETA are teaming up to host a Thanksgiving Food Drive to support families in need over the holiday season. Together, these student organizations are encouraging donations of non-perishable food items beginning November 4th and concluding on November 18th. If you have any questions, please contact Zach Carter at zach.carter@dardanellelizards.com.
